A new white paper argues that the lack of translated disaster warnings is emblematic of a much broader problem: Climate change information, from emergency alerts to scientific research, is overwhelmingly produced only in English. The research, published by Climate Cardinals, found that 80 percent of scientific papers are published in English, which is spoken by just 18 percent of the world’s population. The researchers argue that most of the world is excluded from the information needed to understand how climate change is reshaping the planet, including people in positions of power.

St. Vincent Times featured the #ActForPaws Global Responsible Citizen Winter Challenge, a youth-led initiative supported by the Climate Cardinals UYC India Chapter and Animal Welfare Volunteers Baghpat. The campaign encourages people around the world to take compassionate actions to protect animals during the winter, such as providing food, water, shelter, and assistance to injured animals. The initiative highlights the importance of civic responsibility and demonstrates how youth-led organizations are inspiring communities to create positive environmental and social impact.

Climate Cardinals received national recognition after being featured on The Kelly Clarkson Show for its innovative work making climate education accessible across language barriers. Founded by high school students, the youth-led organization was recognized for translating climate resources into multiple languages, helping communities around the world access information about the climate, regardless of the language they speak. Kelly Clarkson praised the students’ dedication to addressing both climate change and language inequity through volunteerism and global collaboration. This revealed how youth leaders are creating meaningful change by making climate content more inclusive and accessible.

Climate Cardinals is a global youth-led nonprofit and a fiscal project of Future Incubator. Climate Cardinals dedicates their work to breaking language barriers in climate education.
